Decent homes improvement work to Council Homes

Central Government requires all Council Homes to be "Decent" by 2010. Since 2002 Greenwich Council has spent over £90Million on programmes of improvements to Tenants homes and reduced "none decency" in the Borough from 83% to 49%. An estimated further £124M is needed to complete the job by 2010.

The last Phase of the delivery programme is Phase 3 is being delivered using Partnered Procurement with a contractor appointed to each of the four Areas for the delivery of all "Decent Homes" work necessary to 2010. The successful contractors are:-

Apollo - Central Area

Direct Services - East Area

Mears - West Area

Makers - South Area.

This last Phase is split into two stages with the first seeing the delivery of programmes of work between now and March 2008 to some 8000 properties. Works in this stage are due to start in the next month and Surveyors and Contractor's staff are already carrying out surveys, designing kitchens and windows and scheduling and programming the work.
